Influence of Crushed Granite and Washed Gravel on the Mechanical Properties of Concrete

Abstract

The mechanical performance of concrete is strongly influenced by the type of coarse aggregate used in its production. This study investigates the influence of crushed granite and washed gravel on the mechanical properties of concrete, with particular attention to compressive strength and abrasion resistance. Concrete specimens were produced using crushed granite and washed gravel as coarse aggregates, and their mechanical properties were evaluated at various curing ages. The results indicate notable differences in the performance of concrete produced with the two aggregate types, with implications for material selection in construction practice. The findings provide guidance for selecting appropriate coarse aggregates for concrete production, particularly in applications where surface durability against friction and abrasion is essential.
